  • HC Standard's Patient & Asset Tracking System Successfully Provides Multiple Agencies Situational Awareness During the 2017 Presidential Inauguration

HC Standard's Patient & Asset Tracking System Successfully Provides Multiple Agencies Situational Awareness During the 2017 Presidential Inauguration

As events unfolded for the 58th Presidential Inauguration in Washington, DC, ProSphere’s HC Standard® Software Suite was quietly providing situational awareness data to emergency planners and agency leaders throughout the National Capital Region.

“HC Standard® was used for the Presidential Inauguration in 2013, and it has been a privilege for our team to support the event again this year.  In 2013, civilian agencies used the software for situational awareness, but this year the integration was expanded with the addition of a military partner, the Defense Health Agency represented by Walter Reed and Ft. Belvoir,” said Rodger Blevins, CEO of ProSphere.  “DHA integrated its HC Standard® system with its regional civilian partners the DC Department of Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Administration (DC HEPRA), the Northern Virginia Emergency Response System (NVERS), and the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Service Systems (MIEMSS) to provide a common operating picture of patients, assets, and key personnel during the event.”

To support DHA’s use of HC Standard® for the Inauguration, ProSphere representatives trained hundreds of DHA users on the mobile application and web-based system to ensure everyone was ready for the event.  ProSphere representatives were also on-hand in the Ft. Belvoir and Ft. McNair Emergency Operations Centers providing any needed support.  Each agency used its own installation of HC Standard® and entered patient data with a wide variety of mobile devices including Apple™, Android™ and Motorola® handheld devices.  The patient and incident data was gathered from the medical aid tents on the National Mall, the parade route, and the Inaugural Balls attended by the President and First Lady throughout the day.  All data, including veterinary data gathered for the horses participating in the event and requiring medical attention, was visualized on a dynamic dashboard within HC Standard®.  The data was shared in near real-time amongst all the different agency systems so that first responders and command center leaders could see the full picture of Inaugural events as they occurred including the protest activity that occurred.
